The organization has established itself in the new Silversquare business center in Louvain-la-Neuve.
Press Release
Louvain-la-Neuve, May 27, 2025 – Toreon, a cybersecurity services organization established in Antwerp for over 10 years, announces the opening of its new offices in Wallonia. With this move, Toreon aims to better serve its French-speaking clients and contribute to improving the security posture of key economic players throughout the country.
Toreon has just appointed Lionel de Wasseige as Regional Director. With over 25 years of experience in IT consulting firms — including the last 15 years in executive roles in cybersecurity — he will ensure Toreon’s lasting presence in Wallonia.
Opening our new offices in Wallonia is a natural evolution for Toreon. We are responding to the need for proximity expressed by our existing clients. We also aim to better address the growing requests we receive for specialized expertise, particularly related to the new NIS2 directive and compliance with the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). This presence in Wallonia will also allow us to meet the increasing demand for ongoing training for CISOs and DPOs, offered through our sister company, Data Protection Institute.
Alex Driesen CEO Toreon
A key driver for Toreon’s expansion into Wallonia is the strengthening of collaboration with the Walloon healthcare sector. This collaboration is further boosted through a partnership with SHIELD vzw, an initiative of Jessa Hospital, Hospital East-Limburg and UHasselt. SHIELD develops cybersecurity services and solutions for its members – hospitals, care institutions, and higher education institutions – with the goal of enhancing their digital resilience. As a dedicated GRC (Governance, Risk & Compliance) partner, Toreon supports SHIELD members in achieving NIS2 compliance.
Wim Bijnens CEO of SHIELD
You don’t tackle cyber threats alone. That belief led to the founding of SHIELD vzw: a community committed to stronger cyber resilience in healthcare and higher education. What began as a Limburg initiative has grown into a Belgian collaboration with more than 60 members. Toreon’s ability to now support our French-speaking members locally from Louvain-la-Neuve is a major added value to our community.
With this expansion, Toreon strengthens the Walloon cybersecurity ecosystem with a unique positioning.
The opening of Toreon in Louvain-la-Neuve is excellent news for the entire cybersecurity ecosystem in Wallonia and Brussels. Toreon is a global leader in threat modeling and the secure software development life cycle (SSDLC). It is a real opportunity for the whole ecosystem to benefit from such expertise, especially in the context of CRA compliance. Our local experts in GRC and cloud/data security, our team of ethical hackers, and our training offerings via Data Protection Institute add to a very high-quality service portfolio.
