CYBERSECURITY CAFÉ

Hosted by

Toreon Data Protection Institute
Countdown Expired!

Cybersecurity Café, powered by Toreon & Data protection Insitute

Earlier this year, we hosted our inaugural Cybersecurity Café, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. We’re thrilled to announce that this year, we’re back, and we’ve joined forces with our sister company, Data Protection Institute, to make it even bigger and better!

Founded in 2013, Toreon has established itself as a leading force in the cybersecurity industry, safeguarding clients worldwide and sharing invaluable insights along the way. As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering a strong cybersecurity community, the Cybersecurity Café was brought to life. And we’re excited to announce the second edition of our Cybersecurity Café, which will take place on November 14, 2023!

Relive the previous edition:

An evening filled with cybersecurity topics

This time, we’re taking the party elsewhere, allowing us to bring more of you together in one place. We’re delighted to welcome you at ‘De Nieuwe Vrede’, located near our offices in Antwerp, where we will open our doors at 17:30.

We’re once again bringing the knowledge (and food and beverages), with exciting speakers lined up to fill your evening with interesting cybersecurity stories. Our first talk features Tim Groenwals, former CISO of Agfa, BPost, and NMBS, who will focus on how to build a cyber and information security office from scratch after a carve-out of two business units. Up next is one of our own Toreonites, Thomas Heyman, who is one of our most experienced CISOs. He will be accompanied by Anke Hollanders, IT infrastructure manager at Materialise. This fantastic duo will discuss the impact of the cloud on the IT security architecture at Materialise.

How to build a Cyber and Information Security Office from scratch in less than 10 months

Tim Groenwals guides us through his journey where he had to build a Cyber and Information Security Office from scratch after the carve-out of 2 business units in just 10 months. Learn how, with common sense, a good team spirit and industry best practices, you can achieve a minimum protection of your company, processes and data.

Tim is the former CISO of Agfa, bPost and NMBS. After a 22-year career on the customer side, he moved to the supplier side to provide strategic advice to CISOs worldwide. He is currently CISO ad interim at a global chemical player.

How the cloud is impacting the IT security architecture at Materialise

Materialise is present across the EU, Americas and Asia-Pacific. Its corporate organization both shaped its security set-up and created cyber security challenges. In this session, you will get a high-level overview of the IT security architecture and how it has been transformed by technological change (especially cloud). Anke and Thomas will share some details on the Materialise security roadmap, as well as some lessons learned and useful advice.

Thomas Heyman is a knowledge junkie with a passion for securing enterprises and software systems, and an experienced information security professional specializing in security architecture and governance. Having previously served as the CISO of Toreon, Thomas now shares his wealth of experience as a CISO with some of our biggest clients.
